Residential Solar Panel Installation

How Do Solar Panels For Homes Work?

Under SEDA’s NEM Rakyat Program, residential homeowners with rooftop solar PV installations will use the generated energy first, with any surplus exported to the TNB grid. Credits for the excess energy can then be used to offset the electricity bills on a “one-to-one” basis for ten years. The program operates on a first-come, first-served basis with limited quotas available.

SOLAR PANELS

Solar panels convert sunlight into DC electricity.

INVERTER

The inverter converts solar DC power into 240V alternating current (AC) suitable for your households appliances.

METER

Meter measures your eletricity production and consumption organically innovation.

NETWORK GRID

Any excess power is fed into electricity grid.

Example:

Mr. Lee uses 1,400 kWh (units of energy) per month. He decides to install a solar panel system for his home, which generates 1,000 kWh of energy per month.

Of the solar energy produced, 500 kWh are used during the day, and the remaining 500 kWh are exported to the TNB grid to offset energy consumed at night.

Electricity bill calculation:
– Energy paid to TNB after offset: 1,400 kWh – 1,000 kWh = 400 kWh
– Previous electricity bill for 1,400 units: RM 680/month
– New electricity bill for 400 units: RM 130/month

By installing the solar panel system, Mr. Lee saves about RM 550 per month on his electricity bills.

Benefits of Installing Solar Panel For Home

Potential ROI as early as 5 years

Any excess electricity generated from your solar panels can be sold to the power grid instantaneously for credits and zero wastage.

Enjoy Cost Savings

By generating your own electricity from solar panels, you can significantly reduce your reliance on the grid, leading to lower monthly electricity bills.

Singapore, a city-state known for its urban landscape and technological advancements, is also taking significant strides towards sustainability. One of the most promising renewable energy sources for the island nation is solar power. Adopting solar energy in Singapore offers numerous benefits, both for individuals and the environment.

Reduce carbon footprint

Solar panels generate electricity by harnessing sunlight, a virtually infinite and renewable resource, without emitting harmful pollutants or greenhouse gasses.

Protect Your Roof

Solar panels provide an additional layer of protection for your roof, shielding it from exposure to weather elements such as rain and UV radiation, thereby extending its lifespan.
